The Profiles classification was established in 1996. The concept behind this was to reach out to companies and organizations in an effort to assist them in commemorating anniversaries and special occasions. Products were designed for and exclusively sold by those entities. In turn, it was hoped that those individuals would become avid village collectors.

The H. J. Heinz Company was the first to offer these exclusive pieces. Products were used for corporate promotions, sold in their factory store, and offered through direct mail to consumers. An anniversary waterglobe and music box were also offered
